This essay by Sam Sifton in the New York Times was a reminder that I’ve slowed down posting on AshandPrairie and need to catch up a bit! NB and her friend Tyler drove 24 hours in a weekend to visit us here in the North, and it was such a needed, welcome respite from, well…everything 2020. We set up the gigantor tent in the backyard and a coffee and water station on the patio, grilled and ate and drank outside. We totally lucked out with the weather — the weekend prior had been cold and rainy. But then the weekend of their visit turned out to be blissfully warm — perfect for some backyard socializing! We even managed to squeeze in a trip to Saugatuck for one final sunset picnic on the beach. Now that the light has changed, the only decent photos of food I get these days are from breakfast, so two pix of that above. A bacon potato hash on one side, and a spanish tortilla on the other. One of our recent Wacky Wednesdays was Spanish night, and since then I’ve been perfecting my spanish tortilla flipping!
